skyguy50's Full Review: Kenwood LZ-702W 6.95 in. In-Dash Monitor
I just installed this screen and coupled it with a Kenwood KNA-G510 GPS
http://www.epinions.com/content_246617837188
The interface with my Kenwood KNA-G510 was not explained in plain english in the manual. The screen has the ability to switch between nav and video 1 and video 2. After I installed the screen with only my Kenwood KNA-G510 GPS unit the screen went blank after initial bootup. After many frustrating tries,(with no help from the crummy manual) I figured out you must press the Vsel button to switch between Nav/Video 1/Video2. After I figured this out, it was a pleasure to use. You can have the GPS Nav map displayed and at the same time have XM radio as the sound. Cool.
I called Kenwood support desk and they said it was a defective unit. They got it wrong. Apperently thay don't know thier own products. It was simply using the Vsel button to swaitch to Nav. Bad product support.
The unit comes with a "Hideaway" box that is the interface between the screen and all video inputs. *Very small. The GPS nav unit hooks up directly to the hideaway unit. It also has two RCA inputs, (red/yellow/white female plugs) to hookup any device that has this interface.
I hooked up my Samsung digital movie camera to video 1 and watched a replay of a movie I shot. Very cool! If you want a DVD interface then one of the two RCA jacks can be used to hookup the Kenwood KDV S210SP. *Stand alone DVD playback. The hideaway unit also has one RCA jack for output. ie; another screen perhaps? You can have a DVD player & digital movie/still camera/GPS nav/XM radio all hooked up at the same time and switch between units.
The unit came with a headrest frame and templates for in dash or headrest install. I installed it in my Acura NSX in a "Pod". See this review of the LZ-702W with Kenwood KNA-G510 see:
The menu and other interface features are very good.
It does not have ipod or bluetooth or voice prompt.
*ipod: Most user reviews of ipod interface are an excercise in futility.
*Bluetooth:Nice, but this is not an all-in-one unit.
*Voice reconigition: Most pro installers agree this is a weak technology and user reviews support this.
If you want a very nice touch screen to hook up to your Kenwood product, this is the one. If you want a dedicated Kenwood screen with no touch screen for use in a headrest with ir headphones use then get the Kenwood LZ-702ir. If you want a double din, (large size in-dash) all in one unit, then get the Kenwood 6019. All in all this product is excellent with terrible manual and support.
