| klev1's Full Review: Kenwood VR-6050 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I purchased this Kenwood VR6050 and returned it the same week. Why? Simply because the Onkyo SRS500 gave me better sound for the same price. The Kenwood is a good receiver with many features and plenty of power. The bass will shake your walls down (loundness feature) provided you have a quality set of speakers. The VR6050 also has the new SRS patented Circle Surround II. It appears to be a great improvement in both build quality and sound over Kenwood receivers from years past. (minus the Sovereign line which was excellent) For example, the THD is .09%, as compared to the .7% in year 2000 models in this price range. I am sure most people would be happy with the VR6050, it has cutting edge features at a budget price. I do believe that both Yamha and Onkyo still hold the edge when it comes to pure musical reproduction.
