Pros: reliable, powerful dynamic sound, priced hundreds below other receivers with same features, professional look
Cons: none so far
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend the VR-6070 for people who want the latest technology in order to properly reproduce the sound in today's commercially recorded material and do it economically.

| ironskull's Full Review: Kenwood VR-6070 6.1 Channels Receiver |
The Kenwood VR-6070 has dynamic sound, power, reliability, & features found in receivers selling for hundreds more. Some say the manual is hard to navigate, I found it easy. Some say the the remote has small buttons - transfer main control to your TV remote and use the KW remote to fine tune rear speaker volume levels, etc,. Some self proclaimed audiophiles say THX dolby digital is overrated. I'm here to tell you that when adjusted and selected properly THX rules (thank you George Lucas & Star Wars)
I bolted my VR-6070 via 16 gauge spk wire to a set of Polk RT-800 front speakers, Polk FX-30 surround, Polk CS-1751 front & rear center speakers, and a Polk PSW-650 double-cone powered sub. Using optical audio cable I hooked all this up to a 73" hi-def Mitsubishi Gold series TV by way of Dish hi-def satellite and a hi-dollar Mits dvd player. I then set about setting up the system by selecting THX, speaker EQ, active EQ, etc,. Important to select auto detect because some older programming will not respond properly in THX mode. After some additional minor adjustments,i.e. rear speaker volume levels, etc, I tossed a Crimson Tide dvd into the player and settled back in a e-z-chair. The spine tingling experience that followed rivaled the cinema-plex in your local mall. All new receivers are complex with multi-functional controls etc, so take your time and read the manual carefully.
Later, boys & girls.
