Pros:Single cup brew options
variety of flavors
Cons:Defective water pump
Expensive, substandard coffee
Terrible value
Loud brewing
Cup sizes too small
The Bottom Line: Do NOT buy this machine. It's a waste of money and causes a lot of frustration.
Keurig is well aware of the defective water pump installed in every one of their super expensive coffee makers, and yet, they have done nothing to resolve the issue.
My husband and I received the Keurig Elite B40 for Christmas- December 2011- and by the end of January 2012 (less than a month!) the machine has stopped working consistently. It takes several tries to brew one cup of coffee. We have tried removing the Kcup and running hot water through it, removing and emptying the water reservoir and refilling it, and turning the machine on and off mutliple times with inconsistent and frustrating results. My mother-in-law is on her 4th or 5th machine because she sends hers in to Keuring and receives a replacement. She seems to be ok with that but for the average person that is not acceptable! What a hassle! I refuse to waste $100 on a machine that works for a month and then must be replaced- even if it wasn't my money!
People need to be made aware of what a rip-off this machine is! Not to mention the overpriced Kcup coffee- running an average of $8 a box for 12-16 cups of somewhat weak coffee. The Kcup filter accessory is also inconsistent and is difficult to master. If the grind and proportions are not exact, you will have a mess on your hands.
I would not recommend this machine or any Keurig coffee maker to anyone until they have fixed the defective water pump. No one should spend $100-$200 on a machine that doesn't work. I'm returning mine and going back to $10 drip machine I bought a Big Lots! At least that machine has worked consistently for 2 years!
