Pros: Very exiting ending, great addition to a trilogy
Cons: Romance predictable.
The Bottom Line: The whole series is really good, but this one is the most exiting, and of course the conclusion.

| msmorvay's Full Review: Nora Roberts - Key of Valor |
The Key of Valor is the third in final book of the Key trilogy written by Nora Roberts. I have already written reviews for the first two books in those reviews you can find more detailed information about story that this trilogy revolves around. I will give a brief description here, but will not repeat everything as I have already done that twice.
The Key Trilogy revolves around 3 women, Malary, Dana, and Zoe. They have been chosen because of their physical likenesses to three princesses who are called the daughters of glass. The daughters of glass were created by a God and a mortal woman that he had fallen in love with. The creation of offspring between a God and a mortal made some other Gods angry, and so they punished the God and his mortal wife by taking the souls of the three daughters and placing them in a box. Their physical bodies were placed in glass coffins in order to preserve them. Every 100 years or so 3 mortals are found and those mortals will be asked to find the three keys that will fit the locks to open the box so that the three souls can be released. The mortals are found by those who attended the daughters of glass, Pit and Rowena. Pit and Rowena were the teachers of the daughters of glass and were also charged with keeping them safe. But Pit and Rowena were in love, and the daughters covered for them so that they could be alone. It was then that the angry Gods took the opportunity to take the daughters. It is now Pitt and Rowenas ultimate duty to find mortals who can complete the task of finding the three keys.
Malary, Dana, and Zoe agree to the task originally because there is money involved and they all need some. At the beginning of the series they were strangers but by the time the Key of Valor is full swing they are as close as sisters and have also come to care a great deal about Pitt and Rowena.
The task of finding the keys is not only difficult but is dangerous because there is an evil God named Kane that will stop at nothing to keep the keys from being found. Each girl has 6 weeks to find her key and place it in the lock. The keys must be found one by one and in order.
In the first book Key of Light, we learn about Mallory Price, a former Art Gallery manager, and follow her as she makes new friends (Zoe, and Dana), finds a love, and searches for her key.
In the second book Key of Knowledge we learn about Dana Steele, a librarian and the sister of the love of Mallorys life. We learn about her former relationship with one of her brothers friends, and they explore their left over feelings for each other, as Dana searches for her key and opens a business with her two new best friends.
The Key of Valor
In Key of Valor we finally get to know a bit about Zoe McCourt. We know from the previous books that she is a loyal friend, a hairdresser, and a single mother. Zoes son Simon is the main focus of her life, and it is him that she is worried about when it becomes time for her to search for her key. Simon has not yet been directly told what exactly is going on at the beginning of this book but since he has been around the group and has been to the castle where Pit and Rowena lives he has pieced some of it together.
Kane had become more physically violent as Dana had gotten closer to finding her key so Zoe feared for the safety of her son, since Kane was likely to become even more violent since 2 of the 3 keys had already been found, chances are he would become very desperate.
We also learn a bit about Zoes past, where she came from, what was her relationship with her mother, and what happened between her and Simons father.
Zoe is also being a bit distracted and trying her best to fight off any feelings for a friend of Mallorys and Danas boyfriends. His name is Brad and he obviously likes her, but because she is about to face a horrific challenge, and because she doesnt know what a relationship with a man will do to her son, she tries very hard to keep him at a distance. But Brad is a pretty instrumental part of this book and he helps Zoe with her task.
My Thoughts
This is perhaps the most exiting of the three books. It starts out kind of slow but if you have been following the series all along the last few chapters will have you completely enthralled. Things have gotten more serious, and having a son makes Zoe that much more vulnerable than the other two. And while the last few chapters of all three books are really exiting this one is of course the climax of the whole series and will have you flipping pages like mad to find the conclusion.
I recommend the entire series. This series combines romance with mystery, and fantasy. It has a lot going for it, and is very well written. The romances are pretty predictable, and it seemed all three relationships started out a bit hostile, with all 3 of the women behaving kind of the same way, this made the beginning of the romances a little bit repetitive even though all of the situations were different. But to me the romance along with sexy parts of the book were just a background story to the story of the search for the keys.
So the romance aspect of Key of Valor like the other two books was OK, but the key story line in this book and the other two was very exiting. So if you like a lot of excitement mixed in with your romance novels you may really enjoy the Key Trilogy. In my opinion the final book Key of Valor was the best one of all.
