Kids II Soft & Safe Inflatable Baby Bath Tub
Description:
This item is similar to a little mini bathtub that you blow up and put inside the "regular" one so that the baby can bathe more safely once they are too big for newborn molded plastic tubs. It says it holds children up to age 2 years but I would be doubtful if most 2 year olds would fit inside this. My son is 11 months and already pushing its limits.
Likes and Dislikes:
My son loves his!! I needed something for him to bathe in as soon as he outgrew his newborn bathtub. This was at 4 1/2 to 5 months and I wasn't keen on bathing him in the sink (though we did and have) or having to bathe with him every time (inconvenient when you're alone) or shower with him (same reason) and sponge baths were just out of the question.
I saw something similar to this in a One Step Ahead magazine and was dismayed to see it cost almost 15 dollars. I refused to pay that much and knowing that some of the things they offered were often found at the local Babies R Us store, off I headed. I was happy to discover this and for $9.99! Much cheaper than the magazine!
When I got home and tried it for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised that it worked as well as it did in our jacuzzi style tub. I had looked at those bath rings that babies sit in but because of the texturing on the bottom, those would not stick. This is designed for the regular size tubs but fit (and WORKED!) just as well in our jacuzzi/garden style two person bath! My son was happy he was allowed to play in the bath and not have to bathe in the sink and I was happy I wasn't stuck leaning awkwardly over a huge side. I could sit him in this and sit on the toilet and watch him in relative saftey.
The only negative side we ever experienced was when we tried to get it to "hang" dry. We put a hook on the wall (like the recommend) and the tub was heavy enough it pulled the suction cup hook off the wall. I refuse to install one with nails (because my son won't have it forever and I don't want the left over holes) so we have to let it hang dry in the kitchen or wait and leave it in the tub flipped over to dry. Other than that one small thing, I think this is a great idea!
