The problem:
My husband and I were having problems in bed. You know, it happens to every couple at one time or another. People don't like to talk about this kind of thing, but I decided if I could help one other couple I would bare my soul and tell all. Our problem was premature ejection. We were sleeping on a soft side waterbed. Every time the husband (all 185 lbs of him) rolled over, a tidal wave came across the bed and caused me to be ejected onto the floor. I do not mind being ejected from bed at 6:00 am but this was happening all night long. One night after being ejected one too many times I decided I had enough. We were going to take this problem and discuss it like two mature adults.
The solution:
Right after dinner that night I tied a rope around the husbands neck and dragged him kicking and screaming to the local mattress store. I told him it was the waterbed or me, one of us was going. His first choice, and a rather poor choice, was me. After a few minutes of reconsidering his choice he decided it would be in his best interest to at least test drive a few of the choices in the store.
Mattress stores are smart. They are very smart. The most expensive mattress and the best feeling ones are right as you come in the door. After you try them, nothing else compares. In order to enter this store you had to climb over the Kingsdown sets on your hands and knees. We started climbing over the Kingsdown Ultimate Pillow Top set. WOW, this felt so soft and comfortable. The husband laid down. He started making snow angels on the bed. "I want this one" he announced after playing on it for about 5 minutes. "Lets try some other ones" I pleaded. "NO I want this one or I am going home" he said. "BUT this one is over $2,000 HONEEEE" I replied. "I don't care" he said as he passed out. This mattress is beautiful. It has what they call a pillow top (which is on both sides of the mattress). The pillow top is added to the mattress to give it extra softness. So we paid and we went home to await the arrival of our mattress.
Delivery Day or How I Got to Practice CPR:
Or bedroom is on the third floor of our home. The delivery men arrived. They zoomed up the first set of stairs. They started up the second set of stairs and seemed to die in the middle. When they finally made it to the landing they put the mattress down and laid down on the floor. This mattress is very very heavy. We have a king size bed. After I tossed some water on the men and did some CPR they tackled the third flight of stairs. The point here is : HAVE THIS SUCKER DELIVERED. This is not a do it yourself project.
Minor problems:
I went to put the sheets on the mattress and viola they did not fit the mattress is too thick. Off I headed to the store to purchase another set of king size sheets. Bed Bath and Beyond only carries one brand of oversize sheets. SO I ended up with plain white sheets. Nice sheets. Add another 140.00 to this adventure. I came home washed the sheets and put them on the bed. Then I went to put the blankets and comforter on the bed. Guess what? The mattress is so thick the comforter does not cover the whole mattress. In fact I am yet to find a comforter that will, so I had a bedspread made (tee hee add another $600). The blankets-well who cares you can not see them under the bedspread. I do like my bed warm and the mattress pads which heat the beds did not fit on the bed so I had to get a king size electric blanket and put it under the sheets. (add another 130 for the blanket).
Sleeping:
There is nothing in the world like sleeping on this mattress, provided that you like a soft mattress. While this mattress is soft, there is plenty of support for all of those body parts. We have now had our mattress for about 2 years and there are no signs of wear and it is just as comfortable today as the day we bought it. We flip the mattress (with the use of a crane) every few months and I fluff up the pillow top when the sheets get changed. For the ultimate in comfort this is the number one choice. The husband aka the waterbed junkie has never complained about missing the waterbed.
