If he's almost 3 they're good for just one pee (Kirkland diapers)

Pros:cheap
Cons:not very absorbent
The Bottom Line: These are cheap diapers but they don't hold the fluids in!
I have purchased various sizes of Kirkland brand diapers for my middle & youngest sons over the past few years. If I had to guess I’d say I’ve purchased about 10 cartons of these diapers. To give an example, there are 96 diapers in a size 4 package & even more in the smaller sizes so, yes, I have had a bit of experience with these. I am torn every time I visit Costco & need to buy diapers. I stand in the aisle staring at the Kirklands & then at the Huggies. I look at the prices above the items & start reaching for the Kirklands. They are, after all, $6.50 less per carton then the Huggies. Problem is, despite their decently lower cost, they just do not hold up as well as other brands of diapers.
When my boys were first born I started them in cloth diapers. I did so until my 2nd son was 2 ½ years old but only until age 1 ½ with my 3rd son. My 3rd simply urinates more than the others do so I had to buy disposables at an earlier age. I had experience with Huggies in the past so bought those. Then someone recommended the Kirkland brand. I gave them a try. From day one & to this day these diapers refuse to hold as much urine as the Huggies. There was a time when my son woke up EVERY morning in a wet bed from the leakage when he wore the Kirklands. When I went back to the Huggies that problem stopped. Daytime wetness was also a problem. I had gotten used to going for a long time between changings with the Huggies but had to change diapers on a much more regular basis with the Kirklands. I also do not like the way the interior’s absorbent material clumps when it gets wet. I think my son dislikes it too since he comes to me to get his diaper changed every time he urinates. These diapers do not pull the moisture away from the skin as others do.
I have not had any problems with BMs in the Kirklands. The elasticized legging area holds BMs in just fine.
The fit on the Kirklands seems to run small. Right now my son weighs 30 pounds so I have him in the size 4 (large) diapers which are designed for children 22-35 pounds. They fit a bit tight on him already & I can’t imagine how they would fit him as he reached the weight maximum. (My son isn’t a fat kid either!) There is a considerable size difference between these & the comparable-size Huggies leading me to believe the Kirklands are cheaper (for one reason) because they are made with less material.
The Kirkland brand diapers are unisex - made for boys as well as girls. They have no fragrance, are hypoallergenic, & have a cloth-like exterior. They also have “adjustable stretch grip tabs” which “easily adjust your baby’s diaper for a snug, secure fit.” I personally feel other tabs hold better but haven’t had any major catastrophes with the stretch grip tabs.
You can buy a lot more diapers for the money if you go with these Kirklands. But I think you’ll wind up changing diapers more often &, therefore, use more diapers than a better brand. I was foolish & bought a carton from Costco last week. That $6.50 swayed me. I’ll work my way through them but next time I’ll have to resist the urge to save an immediate buck & go with another brand.
