Great "generic" cookware

While searching for a new set of stainless steel cookware, I came upon the Kirkland set sold by Costco. I was considering the more expensive brands, but I couldn't pass up the $199 price for so much cookware. The set includes 2 QT and 3 QT saucepans with lids, a steamer insert, a 10" skillet, a 3 QT chef's pan with lid (my FAVORITE pan), a 5.5 QT chicken fryer with lid, and an 8 QT stockpot with lid. All of this for $199! What a bargain!
The first thing I noticed about this cookware was how quickly it heats up. It also cooks EVENLY. Beware though -- my husband tried to fry an egg in the fry pan, and was dismayed that the egg stuck to the pan. I just don't use this pan for eggs -- nonstick pans are always better for this purpose, unless you want to first coat the pan with oil, which I don't. But for everything else, these pans are great, and cleanup is a snap. All of the pieces are dishwasher safe, and they come out of the washer as shiny as new.
Another great feature is the handle design. Each handle is split near the rivets to dissipate heat. So, you can grasp the handles without fear of burning your hands. The only problem is, like other stainless cookware, this stuff is HEAVY. The manufacturer realized this, however, and added dual handles for the pieces that were heaviest.
Every household should have a good set of stainless cookware, as well as a good set of nonstick. I'm extremely pleased with my Costco set, having used it for almost a year now, and never fail to rave about this product to people I see eyeing the pieces in the store. This cookware is a great set that is built to last!
