A cool review of one of Jet Li's best films to date. I actually have to agree with you that Kiss of the Dragon is arguably the best action film of the summer of 2001. It's pretty sad, I mean the state of Hollywood action films, don't you think? Films like Swordfish, Tomb Raider, and Pearl Harbor received all the hype while Kiss of the Dragon managed to slip in from under the radar...
The one observation you keep noting is how Li himself has a tendency to use acupuncture quite a bit and how the overuse of acupuncture makes this film look a little, well, laughable. Maybe it's just my opinion, but could this (the interesting "uses" of acupuncture) be intended as purely tongue-in-cheek humor?

I have managed to miss this film completely! Next time I'm looking for an action film though, I'll have to pull this one off the shelf. Sounds like fun and I love a good fight scene. Thanks for the tip!
