klsaxt's Full Review: KitchenAid JAVASTUDIO™ KCM534 14-Cup Coffee Make...
I decided to spend the extra money for a KitchenAid. I like this coffee maker for the most part. I did have a problem the first few times I used it though. The coffee spilled out all over the counter while it was brewing and made a huge mess, even spilling onto the floor. I couldn't figure out what I did wrong. I called KitchenAid & they said that I had to center the handle exactly in the center to prevent this. This is a pretty big design flaw that I hope KitchenAid will remedy. They also sent me out a replacement top for the carafe. Unfortunately, the top they sent me doesn't even fit the carafe. It must fit a different coffee maker. I do like the fact that this coffee maker does keep the coffee hot for a long time. It must be becasue of the insulated stainless carafe. I've emptied it out to wash it 6 hours after I made the coffee and it was still hot. This is way better than all the other glass carafes I've had on coffee makers. The "needs cleaning" light is also handy to alert you when your coffee pot needs to be cleaned. I also like the stainless steel design. It matches my KitchenAid microwave.
