I got this combo oven/microwave when I moved into my new house a year ago. I have never owned a built in unit and several of the peculiar items may be attributable to this fact. For example, the microwave has a cooldown feature that runs a cooling fan to cool down the unit. Very odd to hear it running even after your food is done. If I do not hear the food time go off, you will think your food is still cooking. While the fan is cooling the unit, it blows warm air into the kitchen (kinda nice in the winter but not the right place to stand in the summer.) The other oddity is that the microwave door glass fogs up almost all the time. It does clear after several minutes but I have never had a microwave do this.

On the plus side, the microwave has some neat control features, like the soften feature for peanut butter and ice cream. Works like a champ. The microwave seems to good evenly; it has a turntable that rotates the food for you.
The oven is a convection model. Convection cooking does cook food faster but I have yet to read the book (hey, it has only been a year!) to find out when I should use convection cooking. This oven is not as even in cooking in normal mode as our old model, nor does the temperature accurate according to our digital thermometer. The electronic timer on the oven is good and lets you set either min/sec or min/hours.
