Our kitchenaid stove started a fire when the front burner turned on high all by itself. Our daughter was home babysitting and had to call 911. I thought for sure KitchenAid would be horrified and do whatever it took to make the situation right. Boy was I wrong! KitchenAid's response is that it is perfectly safe for a stove to turn on high all by itself and that we should have known that you are supposed to replace your switches just like you replace the brakes on your car. I've never heard of a stove turning on high with the switch in the off position. Everyone does know to replace your brakes but does anyone know about replacing switches? That was the first I've heard of it. I can't believe they stood firm that it was perfectly safe for a stove to do that. Whirlpool owns KitchenAid and that is who I dealt with. Even though I asked to speak to another supervisor I was told no and that my case was closed. They would not even let me speak to anyone else. I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance again and I hope you won't either.
