I am returning this oven. The oven fan runs the entire time while baking or broiling (keeping the exterior cool), but shuts off within minutes once the oven is shut off. The front stainless steel panel then begins to "cook" and heat up. The entire control panel gets up to 160 degrees on the exterior for several hours. This WILL burn my kids if they press up against it. Even the serviceman couldn't believe how hot the exterior got. He tested the temps on my oven and called Kitchenaid and was told that that panel was in compliance as long as it stayed under 170 degrees! They said as long as the fan runs at all then it is working. I spoke to the safety board at Kitchenaid and was told to keep my kids out of the kitchen after I am done baking and also not to use the control panel (which includes the timer, the clock, the oven light) until the panel is cool. This would mean that for 2 hours after I am done cooking, the kitchen area is basically off limits.

My biggest problem is that Kitchenaid said the oven was in compliance with their standards.
