kstitz's Full Review: KitchenAid KBMS1454SSS Stainless Steel 1000 Watts ...
This microwave has a serious design flaw that makes it almost useless for any kind of significant use. If the interior of the oven gets too hot a cooling fan comes on and remains on after the cook time has ended. It takes very little to cause this to happen - microwaving bacon or defrosting frozen spagetti sauce for as little as 3 minutes, for example. Once the fan comes on, it runs for about 5 minutes and the oven is inoperable during that time. So if you want to cook some bacon and then heat up your coffee in the morning, forget it. If you meat isn't quite defrosted after 3 minutes, wait 5 more before trying again. I can't tell you how many times my kids have been crying for their dinner while I waved a towel in the interior of the microwave, trying to get it to cool down. I contacted KitchenAid and they confirmed that this is the way it is intended to work. I advise anyone who is considering this microwave to think carefully about how they mean to use it. I wish KitchenAid's designers had tried to actually use it before putting it on the market for me to waste my money.
