As I reflect back and try to remember which particular item in this set prompted me to buy it I think it was the ice cream scoop, which I didn’t even get the pleasure of using until this week. I have had the set for nearly 6 months.
Kitchen Aid is known for quality kitchen tools which is the only reason I felt this set would be of superior construction and would work better than most products on the market.
I am very pleased with my overall experience with this set of gadgets. The set comes with a can opener, spatula, ice cream scoop, utility whisk, peeler and a flat grater.
Can Opener
If you were to buy it only for the can opener, you would be more than pleased. I already had a can opener I was happy with, but when you have tools around as nice as these you want to use “the good stuff”. You don’t have to fight with the cans to get them open. Plus it is very comfortable in your hand as you are using it. The blade is made of high-carbon stainless steel. This is the only item in the set that is not dishwasher safe.
Spatula
The spatula outperforms any I have ever owned. It is heat resistant to 500 degrees and is made of silicone. It is very sturdy and rigid and will stir even the thickest and heaviest of doughs and batters. The straight and curved edges on opposite sides ensure that you can get into every crevice of any bowl or whatever container you are working in. It has definitely come in handy in my kitchen.
Ice Cream Scoop
The ice cream scoop has definitely lived up to my expectations. I just can’t believe I had it for nearly 6 months before I got to use it. Mainly because I focus on health in our house and we avoid junk food, but the store happened to give us free ice cream this week, so we got to try it out. This ice cream scoop is the “Cadillac” of ice cream scoops. Being that the head of the scoop is metal you can place it under hot running water and get even the hardest of ice cream scooped out perfectly. I have never had the pleasure of making such nice looking perfectly round scoops of ice cream in my entire life.
European Peeler
The only item in this set that I was not as particularly thrilled about is the peeler. I thought for certain it would work better than my favorite peeler I already have. I have only tried to use it once, but it didn’t seem to outperform the one I love so much. I may have to give it another chance, but for now I continue to use my old one.
Utility Whisk
I can’t say anything exceptional about the whisk, but to me they are about all the same. I know this one will not show any rust, which is a good thing. I mean, who wants rust on any of their kitchen tools?
Flat Grater
The only item I have not had the pleasure to test out yet is the grater. But what I can tell you I will enjoy just from the design is that it will be much easier to use and handle than those 4 sided jobbers. This one will fit nicely inside of a bowl as you are working with it, meaning less mess and less hassle. Or should someone want some grated Parmesan on their food, you could grate it right over their plate.
All the handles are very comfortable and make your tasks a breeze. All of the items can go right into the dishwasher except for the can opener, so no extra effort is required.
Kitchen Aid gives you a 1 year replacement warranty and a limited lifetime warranty on the set.
