Pros: None!
Cons: Everything! Liquid leaks into mixer. Won't let you grind, and it'll damage mixers!!!
The Bottom Line: I will not recommend this product to anyone! There are some very serious issues and fundamental design flaws with this item.
It could ruin your K'Aid mixer!!!

WHAT'S THE 411 ON THIS PRODUCT?
I bought this item, thinking that it would be a very good useful accessory for my two K'Aid Mixers. Little did I know that one of them would be severely damaged by this so-called fine item!!
A little bit over a week ago, I decided to make some Sloppy Joe meat sauce for supper. Everything STARTED out fine. Then halfway into the process, I hear the motor start to labor. I immediately turn the machine off, removed the grinder and started the mixer without it attached.
The mixer was STILL LABORING BADLY!! Even at the highest speed setting ( 10 )! I was like; "Oh, no!! Is my beautiful K'Aid stand mixer that I've only had for a year, failing right before my eyes?!" So I waited for a while, thinking that the machine would hopefully correct itself.
I did somewhat, but I could still hear the motor start to labor again at speed 10! Even the next morning, the thing still showed signs of laboring. Now I'm deathly afraid to use it!
WHAT THEN?
The next day, I called K'Aid, and they directed me to the only service center in Massachusetts, Ludlow. When I called the place and talked to the person who answered the phone, he told me that my particular machine (K5SSHW) is particularly prone to failure if the grinder is used with it! That a large number of this model has been there for repairs due to the grinder stripping some of the gears in the transmission.
He also told me that the hub drive that powers all of the accessories is more than likely stripped as well. The problem, he says, is that liquid from the grinder backs up and leaks into the drive mechanism in the machine, rendering it helpless.
There should at least be a rubber seal or gasket there to keep this danger from happening, but there isn't! The whole repair job would cost no more than about $125.00, he said.
WHAT ELSE?
I had to finish the grinding job somehow. I had thought about using my K'Aid Pearl Metallic Food Processor to finish the job, but I got out the smaller 20-year-old K'Aid K45SS to finish the grinding task. It seemed to do the task very well!! Luckily, I decided to keep it! Not that I was planning to get rid of it at all.
But since this has happened, I no longer want the grinder attachment and called Cooking.com to inquire about sending the thing back to them for a refund. I've lost my trust in this product.

5. Supposed to be able to grind cooked or raw meat, fresh or oven-dried bread for crumbs.
6. Supposedly, you can use this accessory with any K'Aid stand mixer.
7. One-year Hassle-free replacement warranty.
8. Easy cleaning.
ANY SHORTCOMINGS AT ALL?
Yes, very much so! This product has some very serious design flaws! Liquid from raw meat backs up and leaks right into the mixer's power hub and drive train! No seal is there at all to prevent this from happening.
It could very possibly ruin your K'Aid stand mixer like it did with mine!! Do not buy it. Also, I don't like the idea of it being made all-plastic.
Even the pusher is now plastic! It used to be made of wood, as shown in the picture above. Not any more!! That, to me, is false advertising right there!!!
MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR:
Given the fact that I would never trust this item again, and that I regret ever buying it in the first place, I will not recommend it to anyone.
WHAT ABOUT CLEANUP?
This is probably the only good thing about this ill-fated product! It IS very easy to clean.
Just wash by hand in hot soapy water. Poke the holes in the grinding dies with a toothpick to remove food and debris.
OVERALL?
Overall, I'd say that this is one item that can stay on the store shelves! It's a hunk of junk.
IN SHORT:
Do not buy this piece of junk! I think that you'll do better just buying a separate electric grinder like I eventually did.
Or use your food processor if you have one. It also, does an equally good job of making hamburger for spaghetti sauces, burgers and meat loaf!
FINAL THOUGHT?
Yes, walk away from this piece of junk!! I will use my K'Aid Pearl Metallic KPFP850PM Food Processor to chop meat, or look into buying a separate all-electric grinder, which I've already started doing. Waring has a few good models!
WHERE TO BUY THEM?
I bought this item from Cooking.com. It's available at most websites and retail stores, if you still want to trust using it. I never will again!!

Note;
About a week or so later, I tested the mixer off and on. I noticed that it was beginning to get back up to it's normal
operating speeds.
So I tested it for several days. Maybe the internal mechanism has dried out and there's no more liquid inside the machine.
It seems to be running normally now, so I decided not to send it out for repairs and wait until I use it to make something to really see how it does.
Thank you for reading this review.
