| BeastieGirl's Full Review: Kitty Hoots Eeeks Catnip Cat Toy |
I cant stand those creepy mice cat toys that look like real mice. You know what Im talking about- they always have them in a bucket at the checkout counters at pet stores. Of course, my cat, Scrubby, loves them. I hate finding them hidden under the bed, so I went in search of a better alternative to the creepy life-like mice. What I found was Kitty Hoots Eeeks Catnip Toy.
This toy is filled with polyester stuffing, catnip and a little rattle- to stimulate feline senses. As soon as I brought it home, there was immediate excitement. Not only did my then one and a half year old daughter think it was a surprise for her, but the ScrubCats olfactory glands perked up, sparking instant interest in the Eeeks Catnip toy.
Kitty Hoots Eeeks Catnip toy is quite cute, coming in several different colors (ours is bright pink) with painted face and clothes on the outer cotton fabric. The tail is a separate piece, which must be sewed on pretty well because it hasnt come off yet and weve had it for a while now- about a year. The ears and four legs are also separate from the main body. They have a felt-like quality about them. Inside, in addition to the catnip is a slight rattle- the part my daughter really liked. The catnip is definitely high quality and the scent has lasted since I bought it- I can even smell it (although only very faintly). Rubbing the mouse a bit seems to loosen up the catnip and sort of reactivates it.
Even once the catnip has lost its potency, the rattle inside and wiggly tail will keep your cat entertained with the Eeeks Catnip toy for as long as you can find it (why is it that cat toys seem to get lost so easily?). For some reason, this toy has lasted much longer than other cat toys in our household. Perhaps it is the bright color of the mouse, or it could be that I havent thrown it away like those other fake mice that always make me think for a moment that a dead mouse is under my bed- eeek!
There are two different versions of the Kitty Hoots Eeeks Catnip toy- the original, with only a painted face, and the chic version, that also has painted on clothes. They are made by Fat Cat, which is a family owned company. Even their packaging is cute and this purchase has well been worth the $3.99 I paid for it. I bought mine at PetsMart, but I have seen them at other pet stores, including Petco and Pet Quarters.
