The Bottom Line: It's wonderful. So long as your kitty isn't a member of the "I Hate Fish Club", this addictive, healthy high protein treat will become one of your cat's favorites.
Ah! There is nothing I've wanted to review more than this product. Introduced to it by a free sample years ago, it has become a staple in my home, and is one of the two things my kitty with Chronic Renal Failure/CRF will *always* eat. It is *the* treat that will make any of my cats beg, try to do tricks, come when I call them...it is a wonderful, and healthy treat.
What in the world is it? Kitty KaviarŪ is one of those pure and simple treats. It has no grains, sugars, natural flavors, or added colors to make it "appealing" or multi-colored. It doesn't come in little cute shapes that look like they were cut out of play-dough, with that same dried consistency (and I suspect, lack of flavor). Simply put, Kitty KaviarŪ is petal thin shavings of dried Bonito fish (a kind of Tuna). In each 1/2 oz. net wt. can, with it's resealable lid, are hundreds of straw-colored, strongly aromatic, petals of delight. Due to the packaging, very few of the petals are broken into crumbs, so you can tease long, wispy bits of kaviar out of the can to place on top of food, or to give alone as a treat.
It is the rare cat that does not respond vigorously with great delight, to Kitty KaviarŪ!
But Why Should I?
If you travel with your cats, this is easy to pack, needs no refrigeration once opened, and just a flake or two will be eagerly received by your kitty. If you have a cat with diabetes, this is a high protein treat that should be on your list! Have a cat with CRF? If you wish to try to jump-start an appetite, or just reward your kitty after a treatment of sub-q fluids - despite it's protein content, this is quality protein and to me the bottom line is keeping my kitty eating. I'll use any treat (sparingly) to keep Patrick eating! Plus Kitty KaviarŪ is high in taurine!
Final Word
Unless your cat is a dyed-in-the-wool member of the "I hate fish" club, this treat will elicit a response you may not have seen from your cat in quite some time. It's that good, and that popular. Previously hard to find,it is becoming more available, but do shop around as prices vary wildly. In my research, buying in bulk on the Internet actually garners the best per can price even compared to your local pet store. I really can not say enough about this treat, it is wonderful...and that's the bottom line.
