Pros: Lightweight and inexpensive.
Cons: You should keep it away from kids.
Why purchase something on line when all you have to do is go to your neighborhood Target or Walmart store and for only ten dollars you can pick up an inexpensive knife and scissor sharpener. Such is the case with this knife and scissor sharpener made by the Klein tool company. Klein tools has been around as long as I have been on this earth and that is over 50 years. When you think of Klein tools, you can think of other products such as the mixer, hand tools, fans, grinders, floor buffers and polishers, industrial tools, cleaners, small tools to very large tools and accessories. They even have been associated with the likes of Joe Namath, Doug Flutie and Mickey Rooney. They went on to merge with other companies where they added a lot more hand tools to their arsenal of products. As far as I know these are still made in the USA. I know that I probably missed a lot of their products but, I tried to remember what they have been associated with.
This knife comes with two stainless steel blades that when you put the knife or scissors blades together and install them inside of the main body of the knife sharpener, you would pull the object back several times and they would form enough pressure for a perfect edge on your knives or scissors. The blades are held together by the rivet at the end of one blade and a slot in the other blade. Fir the scissors the two blades interlock in place to make a sliding motion when pull the scissors through the sharpener. This also comes with a nice curved hand knuckle protector in-case you have to sharpen a knife that you may need during the holidays. The overall size of this little unit is 4" long x 2-1/4"wide x ¾" thick. The weight of this knife sharpener is just a little under 3 ounces. This is dishwasher safe and the main body is made of a curved hardened plastic. There is a curved connected to this and is made of a protective spring metal and is held in place with a Phillips head screw. There are two ways to sharpen you tools and that is at the very top and on the side whichever is more comfortable for you. The cutters are made of tungsten carbide pieces of metal.
With just three or four strokes you will notice a definite difference. You will not need to put too much pressure when gliding your tool through this sharpener. This is lightweight and very compact to allow it easy access for transportation. This knife and scissor sharpener has lasted for several years and we have use it on just about every knife and scissors, pocket knives, utility knives, razor blade knives, and even the kitchen serrated knives that we use to cut meat. I think that is an excellent device to purchase so you can keep it inside of your kitchen drawer or toolbox or even tackle box. So, when the edges seem to become a little dull you do not have to have a motor to start sharpening your knives, when this stops working we will not hesitate to replace it with the same brand name. We found this one at Target a little over a year ago. It has made it through a couple of turkey and ham dinners without any problems. This knife and scissor sharpener is not for the kids, it will help keep your tools very sharp even after cutting some thin bones and all of the abuse that we have put it through. The main body of this knife sharpener is contoured to fit your hand comfortably. This knife sharpener is not the least little noisy and has stayed in working condition and help me keep my tools sharp, so you probably need to keep this in another spot or just keep it inside a drawer. Once you start using this knife sharpener you will never use another sharpener, this will help to keep your knives and scissors to cut a turkey or ham easily. You will also want to experiment on any tools so that you may want to save time so your tools will be sharp when you need them to be.
This knife sharpener only has a one warranty on parts and labor. But, do not worry about that, because since you will not be using this every day basis if there is something wrong or if something is going to go wrong it will probably go bad in the first use. I can highly recommend this to any who wants to save time at the holidays. Five stars for the weight and ease of use that this has to offer. You can purchase this on line, but you will have to pay for shipping and handling which will put your costs well above the original price.
