I wanted the Klipsch Image S4 Headphones so I could cut out background noise when in busy places. They do this brilliantly. Using them with my laptop when at a café or on the bus I feel isolated from all the racket going on around me so I’m free to concentrate on my work. However, these headphones do not sound as good at home when hooked up to my theater system to watch movies or play video games (I do this so as not to disturb my roommates.) There is a tinny sound that lacks warmth and the “three dimensional” sound we’ve experienced with movies and games seems to be lost. I realized when used on my laptop with good music software (Winamp for me) I could tweak and enhance the bass and treble settings in far greater ways than using the headphones on a standalone system: Music sounds so clear and dynamic. So I would recommend the Klipsch Image S4 Headphones for the sole purpose of using them with a laptop or some other device that gives you access to more flexible settings. If they are to be used with a standalone system I’d have to say no. They're not overly priced, but they're not exactly cheap either. And I had to buy a different pair that sounded good with my standalone theater system. Unfortunately, these earbud headphones can't really be tried before purchased so doing a lot research is called for.
