Pros: Best PC sound available, earth shaking bass.
Cons: Quality control issues with amplifier and control pod (made in China).
The Bottom Line: Avoid like the plague unless you don't mind sending them back for replacements every 6 months.

| michaelshaffer's Full Review: Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 5 Speakers |
I purchased these back in January from thee Klipsch website and I have been very satisfied. For $400 some might say you should be though. The bass is incredible, especially in games like Counterstrike. If you're a serious gamer these are a must. The only problem I've had is the control pod volume adjustment is finicky sometimes. You will turn it a little bit to increase the volume and it will go all the way to max volume. This is a known problem with the 5.1s, but it's worth living with, for me at least. There is one other known problem which occured in the early batches called the "hybrid transistor bug." This causes the speakers to basically go silent. Make sure you get a batch where the serial number begins with a "J" or higher, these are the fixed ones. Also, make sure to buy them from a Klipsch authorized dealer, like their website or newegg.com or else they won't validate your warranty. I hope this review was helpful.
*********UPDATE*********Feb 2, 2003***********
Here's an update to my experiences with the PM 5.1's. It's 13 months after my purchase and I had to send them back in September after the amp suddenly failed. This morning I was watching the coverage of the Space Shuttle Columbia crash which happened yesterday and my speakers all of a sudden went to full volume. I turned them down but it was too late. The speakers now sound broken and I'll be sending them back. I think it's crazy that these $400 computer speakers break in under a year while my hand-me-down Logitech's from my grandmother that are 10 years old *still work.
If you don't believe there's a problem with these speakers, go to http://forums.klipsch.com and read of all the other people with MULTIPLE speaker failures.
Such a disappointment Klipsch!! Get your act together!!
