I spent over a year learning, shopping, and comparing until I settled on a pair of floor standing speakers, and these were them. Although I wouldn't consider myself a true audiophile (not having listened to REAL high end speakers such as B&W, Paradigm, or McIntosh), I would definitely rate these among the most superior speakers I have ever heard. I bought these for classical music, and as far as the acoustics that are wanted to be heard in any piece are concerned, these speakers project the sound of the recording and truly capture the authentic tonalities and bass sounds that wish to be heard without compromising. For a speaker to be able to capture the pureness of sound of a solo instrument as the piano or violin, and equally deliver the strength of an orchestra is rare. But these RF-82s do the trick. Even though the speakers boast double 8-inch subs, they don't drown out the highs and mid-range when utilized, rather, they're somehow balanced and blended with the rest of the music for a rich sound experience. I could play Orff's Carmina Burana and Saint-Saens Organ Symphony on these, or play Gottschalk or Paganini and the richness of sound will be kept in both cases. These speakers beat all of the three way speakers I heard, among which were JBL, Polk, Boston Acoustics, KLH, KEF, and Cerwin Vega.
