| jmoonx14's Full Review: Klipsch SF-2 Main / Stereo Speaker |
These are fantastic speakers! The real deal. I have been an audiophile for years and have had McIntosh electronics and B&W speakers for most of my life. I sold it all due to the thought of having $10,000 wrapped up in a system and recently decided to build a new system for under $1000.
I have learned a lot in my years of listening and I insisted on staying with a few hard and fast rules on my purchase. Basically it is this: spend 70% on the speakers and the rest on electronics. I did that and I am thrilled with the results. I wound up with the SF-2's and Sony electronics (CDP-CE375 cd player and the STR-DE185 power amp).
These speakers are simply amazing. They stage very well, very clear and forward, they have the depth of speakers 5 times their price and they're SO efficient (~ 96 dB) you can blast them with 40 WPC easily. A word of caution: audition these very carefully with a variety of music as the loaded horn tweeter is not for everyone. I love it but many find it to sound "harsh" and blaring.
I won't say this setup sounds as good as my Mac and B&W systems of the past but it's 99% there and at 10% the price. I am thrilled with these speakers in every way. Klipsch is everything they claim to be. These made similar products I auditioned seem like a joke. I heard Infinity, JMlab, Paradigm, Boston Acoustics and DifTech.
Highly recommended.
