~~KODAK ADVANTIX APS 200 SPEED FILM~~SMILE AND SAY "CHEESE"!

Rated a Very Helpful Review

Pros:Maximum photo taking versatility; produces high quality color prints; economical.

Cons:Only for use with Advantix/APS cameras; try a single pack first to find preferred speed.

The Bottom Line: Stock up and save by purchasing the Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) and always have a spare roll on hand to capture those precious memories.

It is officially that time of year again. Summer vacations are beginning, so that means it is time to stock up on plenty of film. Several years ago, we received our first Advantix type camera as a gift and completely wore that thing out. Then once our old model finally died, I was quite pleased to receive a new Kodak Advantix (Advanced Photo System) camera for Christmas last year in 2001. So when it comes time to purchase film for my new camera, my first choice is usually found within the trusted Kodak brand line. To save a few dollars where I can since the Advantix film is typically more expensive than the regular 35mm kind, I often buy the Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) in the three roll packs instead of individually. I've always loved to take lots of pictures for both special occasions as well as for everyday events, so having plenty of film on hand is almost a necessity for me. And with three children around, I can usually find a willing subject just around the corner when I frequently find myself in the "picture taking" mood.

~~~The Film~~~
The Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) is a color print film designed for use in all Advanced Photo System Cameras. Three different photo sizes may be chosen when using this film type in these special cameras: regular 4X6 prints, special 4X7 prints, and the panoramic size. There are 25 exposures on every roll, adding up to a total of 75 pictures included within all three cassettes. This 200 speed film is a general all-purpose choice that works well for many lighting situations, but it is specifically recommended for use in bright sun and for when the flash is going to be used. The slower 100 speed film works best in bright light only with no flash, while the faster 400 speed film is the better choice for fast action shots. You will generally pay more for the 400 speed film and less for the 100 speed film, so this 200 speed film is a good, "middle-of-the-line" choice. While I am far from being a professional photographer, pictures taken with this film are always full of vibrantly brilliant colors and are rarely blurry or grainy in appearance. I have bought cheaper brands in the past and can always tell a difference in the lower quality of my processed pictures after doing so. Photos taken with this Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) can be reformatted to digital images online and can be shared via email or placed onto a CD for storage if desired.
~~~Packaging & Price~~~

The Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) may be purchased in the three roll pack at most major discount stores, such as Wal-Mart for approximately $9.74 each. Compare that to over $4 for just one roll purchased separately, buying this three-pack selection is certainly the most cost effective choice, especially for those that take alot of pictures like I do. And many times, $1 off coupons can be found, which helps out with the price even more. Each individual film cassette is enclosed inside a small plastic container with lid to help protect it from being exposed to light, and each has its own six digit number that not only helps the owner to identify specific rolls after they've been developed, but it is also used by the developer to keep mix-ups to a minimum. The film speed (200) and the number of exposures (25) can also be found on the roll. The Film Status Indicator (FSI) consisting of four separate symbols found on each film cassette is used to identify the status of the film found inside. For example: The #1 (a full circle) indicates that the film is unexposed (new) and ready to use. The #2 (a half circle) indicates that the roll is partially exposed with remaining pictures left. The #3 (an "X") indicates an exposed roll that is unprocessed and ready to be developed. And the #4 (a square) indicates that this specific roll purchased in the Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) is processed and the negatives may be found inside.

~~~Ease of Use & Loading~~~
Loading each film cassette included in the Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) is much easier than using traditional 35 mm film. After ensuring that the fresh roll is at the #1 FSI spot, the roll is simply placed inside your Advantix camera in the appropriate slot and is then ready to go. With my particular camera, the number of exposures I have left is displayed in a window so I always know exactly how many pictures I have left. Choose the specific photo size you desire (changing from one to the next is allowed on the same roll of film, only film developing charges may vary), and begin snapping away. I personally prefer the 25 exposure rolls to the 40 exposure rolls for a number of reasons. The smaller roll obviously doesn't take as long to have all the pictures taken up, so after one special event or just a week or two or everyday use, it is ready to be developed. And if by chance I accidentally drop my camera or push a wrong button and the film automatically rewinds before I'm through, I've wasted less film using the 25 exposure roll verses loading a larger more expensive 40 exposure roll. Once all of the pictures are taken on each roll of the Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk), mine automatically rewinds and the FSI moves to the #3 position, indicating that the roll is now ready to be processed.
~~~Developing~~~

Once each roll included in the Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) is completely taken up, remove the film from your camera, place it back inside it's protective plastic container, and then take it (or mail it) to your favorite retailer for developing. There are numerous processing choices available, so check with your photo finisher for specific prices on development. APS film is generally a bit more expensive to have processed than the typical 35 mm variety, but with your developed photos you will also receive a sheet printed with all the pictures found on that roll (including the specific six-digit number as described above) for easy identification when you want to have reprints made of the best pictures. And instead of receiving those easily damaged or lost negative strips when developing 35 mm film, all the APS negatives are neatly stored inside your processed cassette and may be stored in a special case that may be purchased separately if desired to keep them organized and better protected. Most one-hour photo finishers can now process these rolls of Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) without long waits, but be prepared to pay more for faster prints verses using the "send off" developing, which usually takes a few days. Just be sure to have each cassette developed by the expiration date printed on each package for best results.

~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
Trust those special photo taking moments to the Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) and rarely be disappointed in the quality of pictures you take. I've learned from past experience that saving a few more cents on buying cheaper brands is simply not worth it in the end, for the colors just aren't as true and the quality is obviously not up to Kodak standards. Unless I'm just really strapped for cash, I almost always invest in these 3 roll packages of APS film verses buying them individually as this really adds up to substantial savings over time. Now that our summer vacation is finally almost here, I've stocked up on fresh batteries and plenty of film so that all those special memories may be captured on paper to enjoy for many years to come. Pick up a package or two of Kodak Advantix 200 APS Film 25-Shots (3-pk) at your favorite store today and be prepared for all of those Kodak moments that sometimes occur on an every day basis as well as for those special planned occasions that we want to remember. So smile and say "cheese"! For chances are, my camera is loaded and all ready to go.......
**Protect from heat and x-ray and develop promptly.
