emeralddawnn's Full Review: Kodak EasyShare C315 / C530 / CD50 Digital Camera
Before the birth of my second son, I knew I needed to purchase a digital camera. I had used a Nikon for work purposes and needed my own digital camera at home.
Fortunately, a friend of mine would loan me hers until I was able to gather enough money. Her camera was the Kodak EasyShare 4 mega pixel. Since I fell in love with hers, I decided to upgrade hers when I got mine. I got the Kodak EasyShare 5 Mega pixel camera off eBay for $75 and immediately fell in love with it.
It's so easy to use... literally point and click and you have your picture. You can use it at different angles, up close or far away. I have taken so many pictures with it. I use a 512mb card with it and have the ability to take in excess of 550 pictures. This depends on lighting and if I record video.
It's so wonderful in the fact that it's lightweight and can be easily carried in my purse or pocket. There is no waiting for the flash because it's automatic. If I want to turn the flash off, I can easily do so with a push of a button.
It can also record video but no sound. (The previous version like my friend's camera recorded sound. While I still love the camera, this was a big con for the camera in my book. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement)
I also noticed other issues with the camera that I was either able to work out or not able to work out just yet.
First, I noticed that certain batteries zapped much quicker than others.. disposable batteries were easily zapped. Rechargeable batteries work best but even these get zapped quickly. (Worked out)
Second, depending on the lighting, some pictures would come out fuzzy in details. For instance, pictures taken inside under gym lighting can become distorted and/or fuzzy. (Still working on)
Third, the zoom on the pictures taken out a distance were often distorted or have too much noise to them. I have to be at a good close distance to get the picture I want. (Worked out)
Fourth, when looking through the viewfinder instead of the digital picture, pictures are often crooked/moved over a few inches. (Still working on)
Fifth, the shutter speed is a bit slow so that when the picture is taken and a person moves quickly after the button has been pushed, it'll capture the move.
Despite these cons, there were 11 pros to using this camera.
First, you can place pictures in a favorites section on the camera to recall them easily later.
Second, it's easy to delete pictures. You can delete one by one or all if you so choose.
Third, it's easy to review photos and zoom in on them to look at something in greater detail.
Fourth, you can easily see 9 or more pictures at one time while in review mode.
Fifth, batteries can be changed and placed in camera easily.
Sixth, it's easy to know when your batteries are getting low by the red blinking light taking a bit longer to turn green or the battery symbol in the picture window.
Seventh, by reinstalling batteries, you can easily set the date and time for pictures to be time stamped or set the time through the Menu setting.
Eighth, for me.... I didn't need the Kodak software but was grateful to have it. You can send pictures from the camera to the computer with ease.
Ninth, you have the ability to change picture color: to color, black and white and sepia.
Tenth, you can easily choose to save pictures on disk or camera disk through Menu setting.
Eleventh, you can choose through Menu setting which mega pixel you want to take your pictures through.
The jury is still out over here if the camera works well with action movement. I have taken action pictures that seem to do well and others not so well. For me, it doesn't matter. I love this camera either way.
For the price you pay for it, you get a lot out of the camera. It's well worth it for any digital camera newbie or someone who needs it for a special reason. I would highly recommend this camera.
