Good buy for the money

Pros: Easy to use and yet flexible enough to meet the average persons needs.

Cons: Shutter is a little sluggish in automatic

The Bottom Line: If you’re on a budget, and you want versatility, then this is the camera for you. If you are looking for performance and price doesn’t matter you won’t be satisfied.

I had an older DX6490 which when it came out two years ago was considered one of the better cameras available at the time. It had its problems but for a point and shoot camera it did produce nice prints. If someone hadn't stolen the old camera I wouldn't have upgraded to the Z650.

Kodak has listened to most of the early complaints and this camera is much easier to use. I literally put the battery in and started taking pictures. I found the shutter to be more responsive than the old camera. I take a lot of pictures of my German Shepherd in motion and I'm getting much better pictures. The shutter is still not like an SLR camera but then I don't want to spend the grand on getting that feature.

I was very pleased that Kodak has made an adapter for my printer dock so I don't have to buy a new printer. The adapter is only $14.95 and I did have to do a firmware download. However, that really wasn't too painful considering the alternative of purchasing a new printer dock.

I like the options of being able to get additional lens for this camera. I think this is going to give more flexibility when I'm at dog shows.

I wasn't impressed with the so called camera bag that came with the accessory kit. To me it's very cheap and really doesn't protect the camera. Also there isn't any place to attach the cord on the lens cap unless you attach it to the strap.

Since I had the old camera to compare it to, Kodak has come a long way. This is much more user friendly.
