| clint317's Full Review: Kodak EasyShare Z760 Battery Charger |
First my experience: (review is after)
We were looking for something to take pictures and record video. A friend brought over a camcorder (JVC D250) and we liked it so we bought one too. Got it home and noticed I couldn't hook it up to my PC with a USB cord. So I did some research online and found out the next model (D270) had USB built-in. But I also found out that in the mid-range price for these electronics you can have something that takes great pictures and so-so video, or something that takes great video and so-so pictures. You have to get in the high-price end for both. So I had to make a decision, pictures or video (digital camera or digital camcorder), which is more important? It came down to pictures. My daughter had a Kodak Z760 that I liked so I bought one for myself too. Finally I could play with it all day. And here's my review..
This camera takes pictures you'd think came from a professional studio. Pictures in magazines aren't any better. Get to know the settings for fstop and aperture etc.. and you could really use this as a professional. Put this way - I took one of my daughter for home coming and printed out an 8x11 at a kiosk, WOW! No difference than a normal picture, better even.
Easy to use with the PC. You can install the software if you want but I didn't. I have XP Professional and I can connect the USB from camera to PC and it guides me the rest of the way. Shows the pictures and videos, ask me to select the one I want, and then where to put them. Simple! I can go from taking a picture to putting it on my PC in under 30 seconds.
I bought a 512mb memory card to go with it. I can shoot 200+ high-def large photos. Or something like 300+ normal ones. And I can record up to a whopping 60 minutes of video.
The video is kind of small but looks really good. You can enlarge it but you loose some quality. It plays using Quicktime already on my PC. I use it to shoot video of my golf swing for review and analysis because I can do slow-mo and tracking. Plus recording occasions for the family video album.
The macro (close shoots 2" to 2') is amazing! It's almost like a magnifying glass. I can see lint and dust on stuff like a scientist. It shoots closer than you can see with your own eyes.
Auto does a good job from outside to inside to light and to dark. But if you want professional pictures in extreme conditions, learn to use the settings for what they are there for. No camera can do all things without adjustments.
The zoom is good for a camera, nothing spectacular, but I don't use zoom anyways. You can hook up the camera to a TV and review your pictures and video. The video is so-so and the pictures are very nice. It's easy to hook it up too, quickly.
BUY THIS CAMERA!!!
