mophand's Full Review: Dynasty Warriors 2 for PlayStation 2
Ever imagine yourself as a warrior going into battle with only your skill and weapon, fighting your way through hundreds of enemies to win the battle and be praised as a hero. Well if you are looking for that, then Dynasty Warriors 2 is definitely the game for you. You get to choose from about a dozen different warriors. All with there own techniques and weapons. Not to mention you can unlock a bunch of generals to use who also come with there own arsenal of attacks.
Graphics:
The graphics of the game are impressive. What other game is there where 30 or so people can be on the screen all at once with lots of detail (from the custom of Zhao Yun, to the lighting and fog of the level, and the detail of the Generals). The landscape is also very well designed (from the wooden gate to the large brink ones. Everything in the game is well designed for a game that takes place during around 100 A.D. There are flaws to the graphics. The really noticeable one is when there are too many characters. They tend to disappear and making it seems like there aren't that many people, but when you get close they reappear. This is due to the limitation of the Playstation 2. But still, the graphics are great.
Sound:
The swords clash, the sound of the staff swinging, the horse, soldiers yelling and running into battle. The sound helps give you the feel of battle. If you have surround sound speakers, it makes the battle scenes more exciting. Although you would expect a game called Dynasty Warriors to have some traditional music. Nonetheless, the music of the game also helps give life to the battles.
Controls:
The controls of this game are really easy to learn, and they respond nicely. In a matter of minutes you go from not knowing how to play the game, to an expert at fighting. Also because of the combo system in the game, it makes everything easy to do all of the combs in the game.
Gameplay:
The game is easy to learn how to play and it's filled with actions. You can go around defeating warriors with your hand-to-hand weapon. Shoot them with your bow and arrows, or even get on a horse plow over your enemies while hitting them with your weapon. Also to unlock the General you have to play through the game while meeting certain requirements (unless you cheat...hint hint...). So this encourages players to play through the game a couple of times. Also you can adjust the difficulty (for those who think they have what it takes to win). But the game does get repetitive. You can only go around beating up enemies so many times before you beginning to be bored. Also each character only has a couple of combos and about 1/2 dozen of moves each. So killing over a hundred of so soldiers the same ways can get boring. But regardless it's still fun game to play.
This is a new type of action game that allows you to relive first hand the experiences that made these men and women the Warriors of the Three Kingdom...More at eBay
