We've never been to O'Hana just because we don't do well with those set-menu type of experiences - I guess we're picky! I've never had anything BAD at the Kona Cafe, and best of all you aren't sinking a ton of money into a meal there.
By the way, staying at the Poly is like my dream :). No one else in my family loves the theming though, so we haven't yet. We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge in three months.

I love the Polynesian Resort as it was the first on-site property that we stayed in when I was 12 or 13 many, many years ago. On my last trip in September of '05 we went back to Ohana (first time was in '97 and it was probably something else in the late '70s) which had previously been good. The food was awful and the service horrible. I would be more likely to try Kona for lunch on our next visit based on your review.
