reviewer2006's Full Review: Konica Minolta DiMAGE X1 Digital Camera
When my old 2.1 Megapixal Kodak camara broke, it was time to go shopping!
I did look through all that was being offered, but found this stunning camara, 8 MP, for a lot cheaper than others. Based on a friends recommendation, I finally purchased, and I am very glad I did so!
Some of the features:
- Excellent picture quality. I have taken many pictures, and can blow them up to be poster size and get them printed. After they are printed, even poster size, it looks as good, if not better than a 5 x 8.
The picture quality is easily the selling point, although the camara does have other features. Of course it does normal camara functions, reduction of red eye, flash, and so on. You can take a picture is a solid black room, and when you upload the photo, it appears the room had full lighting. Most camaras that do this make the room a white, fake color, although this camara didn't have that effect. It was just a lighted room, very detailed, and real looking. This camara also records movies!
Now the movies are good, only if you want a simple movie of some moment of your children saying there ABC's, or counting to 10 for the first time. The detail in the movies are decent, although indoor lighting isn't all that great. In my opinion, do not buy this camara based on the ability to do movies. When you zoom in (while capturing a movie), you will hear a clicking sound when you play it back. This is very unattractive, and have found it's a lot better to just not zoom.
The camara comes with it's own little padded carrying case, that keeps it protected for the most part. After 6 months of having the camara, there still are no scratches on it (Since I leave it in this case).
The size, shape, and picture quality all work VERY well for the camara. The only problem with size is it may be harder for larger handed people to hold, and take pictures. After you get used to it, maybe after 25 to 50 pictures, you will get used to it.
You can not zoom to detailed, although you can zoom in GREAT detail after you snap the picture. This of course requires a little more computer savy user. If you know how to crop and blow pictures up a bit in size, you should be well on your way to taking quality pictures with this camara!
I recommend buying a fast memory card so you can save your movies and pictures a bit faster. I know with my 512MB card, I can save approx 200 high quality pictures.
Software:
The Kodak Easy Share program is very easy to upload your photos to email to friends, family, or to simply place on your computer. You can also view all of your pictures, movies, and touch them up. With a good camara, this is a win win situation!
Very good buy if you want pictures...Not a good buy for movies.
Small, easily fits in your pocket, and fairly light.
