| bake65's Full Review: Konica Minolta Vectis 3000 APS Film Camera |
I was looking for a convenient, yet full-featured, 35mm to take on a trip. After lugging a Minolta 7000i SLR through several airports, I was determined to travel light. I found a Vectis 30 at Wal-Mart for $93!! I saw the same camera at K-Mart priced at $240.
If you're already familiar with automated 35mm, this camera is a breeze to operate. The controls and displays are laid out in a logical fashion. It feels solid, yet lightweight when holding it. The zoom doesn't shift focal lengths as fast as I'd like, but remember, I'm used to SLR that shifts as fast as I can twist the lens.
I've tried pictures in all three APS modes, and the vast majority are just fine. The manual warns that taking closeups can cut of the tops of people's heads, and the viewfinder has hash marks to help guide aiming the camera for these shots. I can find nothing to quibble about beyond the zoom speed...and at the price I paid this is a very minor issue.
This camera has all the conveniences of APS (auto loading, etc.) and has a wider focal range than many popular cameras.
I'd recommend this camera to anyone for point and shoot applications.
