This is one of my all time favorite catnip products. I have been encouraged over the years by members of my feline family, to become a connoisseur of catnip. One of the most outstanding producers of catnip products in the world, is without argument, Kooky Kat Catnip Company in British Columbia. This product is a good illustration of why they deserve their reputation.
What are Budz in a Bottle?
The flowering buds of the catnip plant contain the highest concentration of oil, Kooky Kat Catnip Company takes that oil and mixes it with pure spring water, packages it in a simple glass pump bottle.
Why Use Kooky Kat's Catnip Spray?
From the website "no aerosol, no solvent, no emulsifier" is used. My favorite kind of product, plain and simple and oh so potent! Just gently shake your bottle before use and you are ready to spray that catnip toy that seems to have lost a bit of oomph, or to make that scratching post more attractive than the corner of your couch! The uses are limitless, and it only takes a wee bit, so the bottle (which holds 1 fl. oz of product) will last quite some time.
Kooky Kat Catnip Company uses only amber glass for their Kooky Kat Budz in a Bottle which protects the nepetalactone (the active ingredient in catnip)against uv rays. As they note on their website, "nepetalactone is UV photosensitive". The company is known for it's organic catnip products as well as top quality non-organic catnip. I like buying catnip products where the manufacturer is also the grower, and where quality control is firmly *in control*. I do not like buying catnip from the larger brand names because they tend to be warehoused, are not always an organic brand, and because I prefer to know the source of my 'nip.
Final Thoughts
I love Kooky Kat Budz in a Bottle, it is consistently high quality, potent and has multiple uses. You are only out of luck if your feline is a non-catnip responder (about 30% of cats do not respond to the active ingredient in catnip) or is too young. Most folks do not know that kittens do not respond to catnip as they will once they have ah..."matured". I recommend this product highly for any of you with a cat at least 6 months old, and who has shown it responds to catnip. Kooky Kat Catnip Company does not sell to the public, but a good google.com or your favorite search engine, will bring up a number of online stores carrying their products. *Important!!* Do shop around, I've seen some of their products at twice the price you can find them elsewhere on the 'net. So do your research!
