Korres Quince Lip Butter - the best lip balm I've tried in ages!
Written: Aug 18 '09
Product Rating:
Pros: scent, texture, hydrating!, tinted (also available in clear), not too pricey
Cons: pot form not the most sanitary
The Bottom Line: Korres Lip Butter wins for my current favorite lip balm - tinted or not! I want to try more shades/scents. You should try it out for yourself.
After I tried a facial moisturizer from Korres and liked it I wanted to try more from their product line. When I saw the little pot of tinted lip balm on Sephora.com I knew that would be the next Korres product I’d try out!
Product Info
Korres Lip Butter is currently available in several shades and scents: Guava (clear), Jasmine (sheer neutral pink), Mango (sheer peach), Quince (sheer rose), Plum (sheer lavender berry), Pomegranate (sheer coral) and Wild Rose (sheer deep red). Korres Lip Butter is packaged in a little plastic twist top pot and holds 0.21 oz of product. A pot of Korres Lip Butter will set you back $9 plus tax.
For those unfamiliar with Korres they’re more of a “natural” company which is what drew me to them. With my hyper sensitive skin – finding products that lack many of the typical additives is appealing. Korres Lip Butter is no different from the rest of their line, is contains zero “parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances (for guava, wild rose, quince & pomegranate), synthetic dyes, petro-chemicals and GMO.” – quoted from Sephora.com
My Experience
Back when I choose my scent and shade of Korres Lip Butter there weren’t nearly the number of options as there currently is. I ultimately choose quince even though pomegranate was definitely calling out my name. What made quince win out over pomegranate was I wasn’t sure the pomegranate would show up on my pigmented lips and I didn’t want to buy a tinted lip balm only to have it look colorless on me.
In the pot Korres Lip Butter in Quince looks rather scary to someone who, like me, is not a big fan of pink. It looks like a hot pink mixed with rose. Thankfully on my lips it’s a natural pinky-mauve lip shade that just adds a bit more color and shine to my lips.
I’m pretty sure I’ve never tried the fruit quince, however if it tastes like this Lip Butter smells I think I’d love it! The scent is really pleasing. I’d describe it as a sweet fruity smell but not sickly sweet by any means. The scent tends to stick with me as long as the lip butter stays on which is a plus since I happen to really enjoy the scent. I’ve found the wear to be pretty typical of tinted lip balms. It can last several hours if I’m not eating, or if I’m not drinking much.
If the scent of Korres Lip Butter is a big selling point then the texture is an even bigger one! When I apply it, the product almost melts to my touch making it very easy to apply without over doing it. On my lips it feels wonderful – unlike any other lip balm I’ve tired. It’s so light and well, buttery feeling. In the past I’ve tried “lip butters” from other company’s only to be disappointed with how they lacked in the hydration department. Korres Lip Butter delivers big time here. I’ve found it to be very moisturizing and healing on the rare occasion my lips become chapped.
And so…
After my time with Korres Lip Butter in Quince I’m left wanting to try out more scents/shades. I do wish it wasn’t in a pot though it’s not really hard enough for a twist up tube and not really soft enough for a wand applicator. That said its pot packaging is pretty minor of an issue. The price is not exorbitant, I love how natural it is, and the scent, texture and hydrating properties are fabulous. I highly recommend anyone who enjoys a tinted lip balm give this one a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
