They didnt block out subway noises or street noises. Bass was barely discernible and treble was very high. The most likely culprit of the poor sound quality was that the ear clips didnt fit properly. They were one size fits all. I have small ears and could never get the clips to stay put and my ears would get sore after 10 minutes of wear. Another problem with fit was that the clips that went behind the ears constantly got caught on my earrings and pulled one of my plugs out which was quite painful. I read other reviews that the fit takes some time to get used to so to give these the benefit of the doubt I used them for a month, 5 days a week for about 30 minutes per day. Needless to say I never got used to the fit and they were constantly falling off. I would not recommend these to anyone with a lot of piercings in their ears or with small ears.
