dsbocco's Full Review: Koss UR-20 Consumer Headphones
I'm not an audio buff. However, I do enjoy mp3s. I was simply looking for a pair of headphones for my computer to take care of a couple of requirements. Ones that would be comfortable and block out whatever noise was in the room. What I found was that and more.... for under $20.
The packaging in the store was, let's say, less than appealing but this was a whim buy and, for the price, how wrong can I go. As it turned out, this was one of the better [under] $20 I've spent.
First of all, they're comfortable. Contrary to other reviews I've read, the adjustment is simple. The earpieces are a particularly soft, cushioned material that holds the contour of around your ears. Again, this is great when you want to block out the TV in the next room. The cord is long enough where you don't have to take them off to reach 1/2 way across the room.
The sound quality is plenty good but not great. They're a little more on the bass side but this can be compensated for with your computers MP3 Player equalizer. Still a decent pair of headphones is a huge leap from any computer speakers.
Here's one more important thing. They're tough. I have 3 kids who also love MP3s. My experience with any headphones is you usually get some intermittent connection where the cord goes into the headphone. Not the case here. These things get beat on and they still look and sound like they're just out of the box.
If you have hundreds (thousands) of dollars invested in audio equipment, move on. Otherwise, the Koss UR20 is for you.
