mjhollingshead's Full Review: Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Deluxe Dinner With 2%Milk,...
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Deluxe Dinner With 2% Milk Cheese is packaged in 4 serving, 14 Oz Boxes.
Made of enriched pasta and a lower fat content cheese sauce to produce a quick and easy side dish or quick meal which is packed with calcium and iron Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Deluxe Dinner is a nice, occasional, alternative to a quick burger on the way home, or frying up a chicken after arrival home at the end of a long work day.
Mac Cheese is a perennial choice at our house. The Mac Cheese I fed my kids was made by preparing my own sauce and cooking pasta on the stove. Today it is more likely to be one of the Kraft packaged dishes.
Husband likes Mac Cheese as a side dish as well as a main dish. I am very fond of cheese, sharp cheddar in particular, and find the essence of the cheese provided in the sauce for this particular Mac Cheese dish to be very tasty. Husband likes the cheese flavor of all Kraft Mac Cheese meals and side dishes; so no problem there.
The handy Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Deluxe Dinner With 2%Milk found in this 14 Oz version includes pasta along with a pouch filled with the cheese sauce; that is a pleasant change from the powder to mix with butter and milk as is found in the many Kraft blue box varieties. American process cheese is a food product, not cheese per se, created from ordinary cheese along with other unfermented dairy ingredients, as well as emulsifiers, extra salt, flavorings, food colorings and/or whey.
The package is intended to provide four servings to the box. My need to eat tends toward small while Husband's desire for food is more on the hearty side. While one box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Deluxe Dinner made using 2% milk cheese is sufficient for the two of us, it is uncertain it would be enough were we feeding teens or grown son in addition to ourselves.
Preparation Directions per the box: Top of Stove: (I use an electric pot) Boil 8 cups (2 quarts) water. Stir in macaroni. Boil 10-12 minutes or to desired tenderness stirring occasionally. Drain. Do not rinse. Return pasta to pan.
Cut off top edge of Cheese Sauce Pouch. Squeeze Cheese Sauce Pouch onto hot Macaroni. Stir gently until well blended.
Can be served as is, or with addition of cubed chicken, shredded left over roast, chopped turkey, tuna, onion and some frozen green peas for color.
Makes about 4 cups.
Reheating: Add 1 tablespoon milk ( I use canned milk) or water to 1 cup serving before reheating. I heat a serving in microwave for snack or light supper when Husband is busy out at barn and cannot come in until later.
While I did not serve many prepared or, from a box meals during the years my kids were growing up, as I age and am more tired in the evening I find myself drawn to Kraft's little blue boxes more often.
Fortunately for us, in this present day Kraft has really enhanced the taste of their Mac Cheese products. The ease of preparation when using Kraft Mac and Cheese packages is a real godsend. Because the Deluxe version of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Deluxe Dinner With 2%Milk, has sauce packet needs no mixing; the only preparation is boiling the pasta.
Husband often prepares pasta just before coming to pick me up at school, we reheat pasta as necessary, add cheese sauce and a meat add in if desired along with a simple salad and dinner is ready.
Mac Cheese has long been a recipe staple for us. As a side dish, Kraft pasta and sauce is great. For serving as an entrée I have always liked to jazz up the recipe a little by adding chopped onion, sliced olives, a can of tuna or other left over, cooked meat and some frozen, not canned green peas for color. Frozen peas are bright and lovely, canned tend toward dreary and dull.
Macaroni and Cheese is an old family standby, happy to recommend Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Deluxe Dinner With 2% Milk Cheese product offered as 14 Oz Boxes Pack Of 6. =================================== Ingredients Pasta: Enriched Macaroni Product Wheat Flour

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the Brand: What a difference today's Kraft is as opposed to the small partnership begun some 200 years ago. Kraft has come a long way from the day when 29-year-old James L. Kraft moved from Ontario, Canada, to Chicago and began selling cheese to grocers from a horse-drawn wagon.
For more than 200 years, many companies have united to make Kraft Foods what it is today. The beginning came before the Revolution--in Dorchester, Massachusetts-it was 1765, a local physician, Dr. James Baker, went into partnership with a young Irish chocolate-maker, John Hannon.
As America's first chocolate mill, in 1780, they made a blend of quality chocolate called Baker's chocolate. Baker's chocolate was the first of a long list of companies that have joined Kraft Foods, Inc., in making good food for busy families.
In 1988, Kraft became part of Philip Morris Companies Inc., and a year later Philip Morris Companies combined Kraft and General Foods Corp. to form Kraft General Foods, the largest food company in the U.S.
Some of the most popular and well-known brands in the Kraft family include Maxwell House, Yuban, Oscar Mayer, Breakstone, Grape-Nuts, Jell-O, Post, Minute Rice, Cheez Whiz, Cracker Barrell, Tang, Cool Whip, Shake 'N Bake, Stove Top, General Foods International Coffees, and many, many more.
