In true BSC fanfair I picked up this book off my little sister's shelf recently. More than anything I was shocked to discover that my long lost favorite series had made it's way to #100 (and seems to have gone even farther than that!) Eager to see where Ann M. Martin has taken this group of girls that I grew up with, I borrowed the book for my lunch hours at work.
Putting myself back into middle school mode I was not disappointed at all. If I had been expecting a John Grisham novel, it would have been a different story, but I had to read this with some perspective.
Unfortunately this just so happens to be centered around my not-so-favorite sitter, Kristy. Still I enjoyed it and was once again drawn in to their adventures. This time Kristy is running into conflicts all over from other Baby Sitters Club members, and ponders ending the club's existence. Written completely from the main character's point of view (as all BSC books are, changing characters with each new edition) you get to experience the moments right along side her.
Sure, it's simplistic warm fuzzy writing meant for younger readers, but I liked it. It shows how a group of friends can run into problems, and how they work through those problems. A definite feel good story, although I really was in suspense there for a bit...
