| pweisenberg's Full Review: Krups 239 Power X Plus 14-Speed Blender |
What is the sign of a good blender in today’s "just add water" society? That’s easy; nobody really blends anymore, they just want a good Ice Crusher. You need a blender that can make a good slurppy or margarita. You don’t want a "Smoothie" with large chunks of ice in it. (do you).
Well that’s what I set out looking for when I purchased a blender last year. I had one of those previously mentioned blenders that just didn’t cut it. So I went to the store with one thing on my mind, Crush Ice.
What I found:
I have a friend that has the top of the line Kitchen Aid Blender. Now that’s a blender. It does a great job at every task. It made a great Margarita too. But that blender was around 90.00 dollars and I just couldn’t justify spending that kind of dough on a blender.
So after comparing the features on the second tier blenders, I choose the Krups Power X blender. This blender had the all important "Crush Ice" button. That was want sold it for me. It also has a powerful 330 watt motor for blending a wide range of ingredients easily and quickly.
The very first day, I had to test it out. I set the blender up, dropped in a lot of Ice, and starting crushing. The Krups did an admirable job. Still it was not the smooth quality of the Kitchen Aid. The Krups also comes 6 adjustable speeds and a Power Bar button. This feature really comes in hand if your making a milk shake and your Ice Cream is getting stuck at the bottom. The pitcher will hold 48 onces of your favorite mixed beverages.
The Krups pitcher comes completely apart, which makes it easy to clean. The bottom where the blade also comes apart to be washed. (unlike some cheaper blenders)
Conclusion: While its not the Kitchen Aid, the Krups does a more that adequate job of blending and crushing.
