| MediaLabGuy's Full Review: Krups 239 Power X Plus 14-Speed Blender |
With 14 speeds and a really powerful motor, the Krups Power X Plus blender is all you need to blend to your hearts delight. It's an delight to use, and blends your milkshakes and crushes ice for your margaritas without any hassle or resistence. Having brought this blender for as a replacement for a much cheaper, crappier one, I can say that this one is a keeper.
Ice Crushing Behemoth
What would a college student use a blender for but for crushing ice, for obvious purposes? After my Osterizer 400W blender burnt out because of my ice-crushing escapades, I decided that I needed a more reliable, stylish blender. Behold, after going through 10 bags of ice, the Power X still keeps on going and going, crushing ice with ease. The blender's "Ice Crusher" button makes doing so easy, and the results are magnificent--no large chunks after about 30 seconds of crushing. To wit, the blender has all the power you need to make everything from smoothies to margaritas.
Easy to Use Stylish Design
College students aren't usually known for having stylish appliances--so that's why my Krups blender looks oddly out of place among my $30 toaster oven an my $10 hotplate. The unit is amazingly well designed, and using it is as simple as turning a dial and watching the liquid in the blend twirl around. Furthermore, the blender has a rubber gasket--something that my Osterizer didn't have. This makes cleaning up easy, prevents rust, and makes attaching the blending jar to the motor simple and surprisingly easy.
48 Oz = lots of drinks
The Krups Power X plus also comes with a large 48 oz. pitcher, able to hold enough drinks for you, and all the friends you could ever invite to a party. Furthermore, the pitcher is made of glass, making cleanup easy.
Bottom Line
The Krups Power X plus is a well built, powerful blender unit that will blend for years to come. It's a bit pricey, but if the extra $15 you spend on this unit is well worth it. As such, I give it two thumbs up, as the Power X plus is a college student's best friend when it comes to hosting parties.
