Pros: Even toasting, multi-position rack for toast or bagels. Self shutoff , even heating. Sleek looking.
Cons: Short powercord. Opening door does not pull tray out. Timer 90minutesmax. Black finish only. Pricey.
The Bottom Line: You get what you pay for. This is worth every penny.

| r6rome's Full Review: Krups FBC1 1600 Watts Toaster Oven |
I have been looking for the perfect toaster oven for a while. I used to use a cheaper 'space saver' model of another brand, (mainly because I had mounted the bracket) but I found out that they did not toast well and kept dying on me. When I moved to a new house, I decided to look for a good model. I have a large convection oven, so convection was not a must in this small unit. I mainly wanted to make good toast and have a small oven to I do not have to fire up the big oven to make a small dish.
I hesitated a bit at the price first (U$140.00) but I decided to take the plunge and buy the unit.
The unit is very easy to use. You press Bake, Toast or broil, then you select the temperature and the time (for toast, you select the level of 'toastness').
It makes perfect toast at the standard setting of 4 (takes about 3 1/2 minutes) for sliced bread in the second position from the bottom (recommended). It seems that if you use bread that is not too tall, you may be able to fit 6 slices, for most bread (like Wonder bread) you may only fit 4. I only need two slices at at time so this is not a big deal.
I also wanted a unit where I could fit a small pyrex or casserole. This unit fits my needs, it can fit a dish about 10 x 12 inches.
We have made a caserole and biscuits in the oven and it heats fast and evenly.
The unit has little bumpers in the back to keep it at some distance from your backsplash. I find that the power cord is a bit shorter than I would like, you have to be careful not to let it touch the back of the unit as this gets very hot and could melt the cord, but if you are smart about the placement (ie, don't place the outlet right behind the toaster oven), this should not be an issue.
One small drawback is that the inside tray does not pull out when you open the door, since the contents will be quite hot, you need to use the supplied tongs (or something similar) to pull the tray out.
The timer has 90 minutes maximum time, but you can increase the time at any time. At first I was put off that you can't just turn it on to heat for as long as you leave it on, but I then realized what a good safety feature was to have the unit always auto-shut-off.
You may also want to consider a similar unit with convection cooking, this is Krups model FBC2, which is also available. I did not care about this since I have a large convection oven.
I highly recommend this toaster oven
