ztults6000's Full Review: Krups KB720 5-Speed Blender
To start, I was looking for a blender that would do heavy duty mixing -- blend whole fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, etc. I bought this one because it sports 1 1/3 HP -- 1000 watt motor and claimed to mix well. I compared it to my old cheap Oster 450 watt blender. The Krups was quieter, however the older blender did a better job of blending the fruits and vegetables to smooth consistency.
The quick test performed was to add three cups of water, one whole lemon, a handful of spinach leaves, and one garlic -- yuck. I let both blenders run for about one minute each on their highest setting. I strained the remains and dumped them into bowls for comparison. Results were obvious to the eye. The Krups blender left obvious chunks and bits of lemon seed, whereas the old Oster blender did not.
I will say that the Krups was a nice counter top piece and is definitely much quieter with good pulse options and a secure lid -- I had to keep a hand on the top of the Oster during the test. However, if you are looking for pure mixing power, you would do better to look elsewhere. For a blender in the $150 range, you could get a good Waring or other brand that would do better for heavy duty jobs.
