cnsumereportr's Full Review: Krups KB720 5-Speed Blender
I bought this blender hoping it would do the job with the more powerful motor (1000 compared to 500 on other blenders) and ice crusher function. However, when I put in five ice cubes, they just jumped around like popcorn in a popcorn macine. A hammer would do a better faster job. Second, the key pad is flimsy and I can see that giving out within a year or two. There are only 5 speeds and I don't see any reason to use the first couple anyway (I can in fact, stir on my own with a spoon). I tried to make a smoothie but the opening in the lid was so small I couldn't get the chunks through without making a mess. Other blenders I've had had much wider opening that were actually functional. The blender container itself is extremely heavy, so not very user friendly to non weightlifters. I spent about twice as much on this blender as the others on the shelf, but I am taking it back as I don't see what is better about it. Could somebody out there please make a decent blender that works? I have an old 30 year old blender that still is going strong but I gave that to my daughter. It is light weight metal, has many useable speeds, no key pads, but a decent clickable dial to change speed, and can you believe it, a motor that actually works! Engineers, please test your blenders on real people before mass producing so as to conserve valuable resources and keep the land fills from filling up too fast with junk.
