Pros: It makes a delicious product; you can add the ingredients of your choice to make.
Cons: Not for the lazy cook for you must do the stove prep for ice cream.
The Bottom Line: I would tell you to give it a try if you appreciate how much better homemade can be compared with store-bought. It makes a wonderful product!

| gonewithwind's Full Review: Krups 358-70 La Glaciere 1.5 Quart Ice Cream Maker |
When I was a child, my parents would make homemade ice cream about once a year for special occasions. I decided it was time to give it a try and to give my children the same fond memories.
Since my husband and I are amateur gourmet cooks, I boldly decided to give the Krups a try. I used the Williams Sonoma book because it had a wonderful variety of recipes. After my first batch (double chocolate in which we used a combination of Pernigotti Cocoa from Italy and Ghirardelli Bittersweet Chocolate), I was totally hooked on making my own ice cream. Right now, I have a Vanilla Bean batch chilling in my Sub Zero prior to being added to my Krups and my mouth is watering just thinking of it!
Please consider that you will be making about a quart of ice cream at a time so consider each to be a microbatch ... meaning that you get to try something totally different the next day, next batch. I have a family of five so I don't give big servings (and moderation is more healthy). Some people may consider this to a con but I would rather make small exquisite batches.
