Pros: Earth friendly, adorable, easy to use and easy to clean. Prevents diaper rash.
Cons: Not a good night time diaper and not breathable.
The Bottom Line: Really good cloth diapers, specially for someone new to using cloth. The price might seem high at first but is average for an all in one of this type.
kimberlyrose's Full Review: Kushies Classic Diapers 5 Pack (Infant)
Before my second child was born we choose to cloth diaper him. We knew in the end it would save us money, be best for him, and be light on our over used world. 1 baby in disposables can make over a ton on diapers I had read. This baby would not. But could I keep up I worried.
As it turns out these are made of soft fabric on the inside and a PUL blend on the outside making them water proof. The pack I got (as a gift pricing about $50) had 2 white, a yellow, light green, and white with little adorable bear print. Easy to wash!
We washed them by cleaning off any solid soiled diaper with TP into the toilet. Put the cloth diaper into our diaper pail, and in the next 24 hours it would go into the washing machine with other cloth diapers, soak for a few hours in cold water with white vinegar. Washed on hot with our normal earth friendly detergent, and rinsed once more on cold at the end. Clean diapers! Then out side to the line to dry or into the dryer on low heat.
The best way to get stains out, as stains happen with cloth diapers is to put them out in the sun! The sun does an amazing job making them bright white again.
From 4-10Lbs my son was not in these very long as he was born 7lbs 7oz. BUT they are in great condition for the next baby and saved us a lot of money. My son fit into these until past 10lbs actually as he did not get chunky legs and a baby belly till about 5 months old.
We only had 5 of this kind of cloth. With any cloth diaper I believe a newborn can go through as many as 20 a day. You tend change cloth diapers more and not let them fill up like a disposable. We went through about 12 a day, this being our first cloth baby, not sure how common that is. We use about 8 a day now that our son is 8 months old, in bigger diapers.
This diaper is easy to put on. It goes on like a disposable, closes with velcro. This velcro does need to be cleaned from time to time as it attracts all sorts of fuzz. It is a good velcro and has worn well with one child and I believe will with a second child.
The reason I marked these wonderful all in one diapers (Meaning the do not need a stuffer or a cover) with only 4 stars is because they do not breath for one. PUL does not breathe as it is a plastic coating. For another, this diaper did not hold up during the night, often our super soaker of a baby would soak his sheets if wearing this diaper.
If you get these and plan on using them over night look into hemp inserts to add to the inside to help soak up a heavy night time wetting. (I did not know this back then)
These where not my favorites but they are good cloth diapers and I am happy they where given to us as they have thus far served us well and I believe will be enjoyed with next baby as well.
It eases my heart to know this gift also gave something to the planet, a break.
