Thanks for the follow up answer. I've already begun to look for these packs to see if we can find one that works. I had just about given up on it, but I'm a firm believer that they rather enjoy carrying their stuff.

Great question!

I think the slipping is usually because of the dog's body. On my Chow/Golden mix, the chest straps fit snugly and so the pack stays in the middle. I also make certain I balance the sides. Clearly if one side is WAY heavier than the other, it'll fall.

For my shepherd mix, I find it goes a "little" lopsided, but not too much. I think that's my bad. I should adjust the straps. Hmmm... I'll go grab the pack and see what happens. Okay, that's right. I forgot that I adjusted the chest strap so that to make it easier to clip the seatbelt to the harness under her pack. This causes the pack to sit further back and both the straps go under her tummy, and, of course, I don't tighten those.

So, my answer is:

No. When the neck strap is adjusted so that the body straps fall under the chest, the backpack they can be secured tightly and comfortably, preventing movement of the backpack. Also, making certain that the pouches are relatively balanced in weight prevents falling to one side as well.

Really, great question. I'll go update my review. :)

I've two different dog packs (three if you count a really cheap one) but we always have difficulty with the pack slipping to one side or the other (generally down and under hanging from their abdomens) no matter how balanced the pack seems. Do you find that this vest's design prevents that? Really good review.
