Ease of Use:
Pros:Great print quality, low print costs
Cons:Unreliable - prints what it wants, if it wants!
The Bottom Line: Excellent print quality - low running costs - not properly compatible with Windows XP!
We purchased this printer in January this year. Having read reports about the print quality and low running costs, we felt it would suit our purposes perfectly. After a rather "user unfriendly" network setup, we were impressed by the printer's performance. However, very shortly afterwards we started having problems. Using MS Publisher, the duplex printing function was unreliable. We contacted Kyocera who explained that it was a Microsoft problem - very helpful! Then, when printing from Quickbooks, the printer started printing unexpected amounts of pages. For example, when requesting three copies of an invoice, the Kyocera would produce only two - not the end of the world but annoying none the less. Then it started losing print jobs altogether. It would whirr and the data light would flash and then - nothing! Now it's started selective printing. It prints some jpegs, but not others - just whirrs and then produces a blank page. We downloaded the latest drivers, uninstalled the old ones, went through the unfriendly installation process once again and - no difference. I phoned Kyocera and lo and behold, it's "a Microsoft problem" again! We're using XP with service pack 2. "That's your problem Sir" I was told.

So beware - if you use the latest operating system from the largest operating system supplier in the world don't expect the C5016N to perform properly!
