Pros:Snaps together securely, great tub and lid for storage, unisex colors
Cons:Wasteful packaging
The Bottom Line: The Lego Duplo Building Blocks (71-piece set) is a great set of building blocks for toddlers.
For her birthday, Toddler Grace received a box of Lego Duplos and she has been playing with them ever since.
The Product The Lego Duplo Building Set is a 71 piece duplo set. I purchased it from Target for $23. It is for ages 1.5 - 5 years.

My Experience The Lego Duplo Building Blocks is a great starter set of duplos.
Toddler Grace loves to play with the Lego Duplo Building Blocks. I purchased the set because I like that it’s neither geared specifically to girls or boys. It’s a green box that has blocks that are red, blue (light/dark), yellow, green (light/dark), black, and brown. It isn’t all pink and it isn’t all blue and I appreciate that.
The blocks are housed in small plastic bags, which I found to be somewhat wasteful. Once the blocks are taken out of the bags, they fill the container about halfway. There is definitely room for more duplos. The container is great; it is light yellow-green and has a wide base and a sturdy lid that snaps securely on top. The lid is see-through so you can see how many blocks are inside. Sometimes Toddler Grace uses the tub as a chair while playing with the blocks inside her play tent.
There is a variety of different shapes that are included in the set, including a window and frame, a duplo car, a boy with a blue hat, and a two flowers. There are plenty of pieces for Toddler Grace to build with this set. She also has a set of MegaBloks, which is also compatible with the Lego Duplos. The set keeps her occupied for a while and I like that it encourages her to use her imagination to build and play with whatever it is that she created. She tends to build ducks with the smaller pieces and have them swim around an imaginary pond. Sometimes the ducks will ride on top of the duplo car, which she calls a bus. The duplos snap in place well and do not separate too easily from each other. I like that the duplos are a good size for her little toddler sized hands -- they aren't super big so that they aren't challenging, but they are not tiny either so they are not frustrating. The duplos are just the right size for toddlers to give them that just-enough challenge and encourages their fine motor skills and manipulation skills.
Overall Thoughts The Lego Duplo Building Blocks (71-piece set) is a great set of building blocks for toddlers.
