| bonniesayers's Full Review: LEGO - Galidor #8324 Euripides |
Although the summer LEGO catalog is hyping the Galidor™ line, this was not as interesting for my seven-year old. The initial purchase was for the Galidor™ Ooni and the Galidor Euripides. Galidor™ – Defenders of the Outer Dimension can be seen on Fox Kids Saturday mornings. Basically Nick Bluetooth is out to save Galidor™ from the evil Gorm. The other creatures assist with this endeavor. Galidor™ Euripides has vast mental powers, so he can use his mind to move objects or people.
This particular action figure comes in plastic that was tossed out, but the Galidor™ Ooni arrived within a box and cardboard tray. I believe there are ten or more in the Galidor™ series by Lego. In a way I am glad that my son quickly lost enthusiasm for this line because the starting age is four, which is a bit young for him to be playing with. There are ten pieces to the Galidor™ Euripides with two holes for adding on from other figures to make another creature. These are located on the back and within his head at the back of his skull.
Each time I try to move his head it comes out of the slot, but it can move once you figure it out. This is not able to go around just a slight up and down motion. The best part of the Galidor™ Euripides in my opinion is the dagger that is removable and can easily slide into either hand. It can be placed in the upright position or lengthwise, as long as no one is close by to get stuck with the jab. The dagger is plastic with a red gel or something inside. The texture changes on both ends and feels squiggly. The total length measures from point to handle at ten inches.
The Galidor™ Euripides stands over six and a half inches tall. My son had him the first time standing on his hands or legs upside down and he never tipped over, sort of a balancing act with the dagger attached to him. The way his head is placed on leaves him with a sort of hunched back body. Both his left and right feet are one piece, with what resembles knee-pads on his upper leg part in a black color and his feet green and two toes spread apart. His legs can move halfway to an open position, any further and the pieces come out of their compartment.
The arms are in two pieces, with the black and green parts separated. He is able to sit down as long as his upper body is positioned to keep him steady and then place the dagger in each hand so he is sitting at attention awaiting his next order or assignment. The left arm is in the open cupped position while the right arm is open underneath with two fingers spread to grip the dagger and the thumb to keep it intact. His eyes are green and black with an interesting looking expression. He does not look as evil or dangerous as the Galidor™ Ooni. This is the noble and powerful Amphibib and seems to be the only green figure in this series, thus far. There were no directions included, which bothered my son to a degree until he saw just how easy this was to assemble. I would say basically stands on the table with occasional playtime, but fits in with the décor of the other oddball creatures and animals we have.
When Saturday rolls around we are usually watching Disney or a video so without watching the show on Fox Kids the interest has waned, which is a good thing because who knows what commercials are being shown while the show is on! This is a nice action figure to keep on the table but the age range is not conducive for my son and I hope this is the last figure of this set we will purchase.
This was purchased for $9.99 through www.lego.com. My son has not been interested in taking the two figures in the Galidor™ line and experimenting with making a new creature. Usually his interest fades when he gets a new Zoobooks and with school in session there is not much free time to spark his creativity and figure out what to do with these characters. I have a feeling with the arrival of fall around the corner, the next catalog by Lego will change direction for what items he wants for this holiday season.
