Pros:Excellent figure, several variations, glow in the dark head.
Cons:Resellers overcharge for it.
The Bottom Line: Another great Harry Potter themed mini figure!
Professor Snape has always been one of my favorite characters from the Harry Potter series. It doesn't bother me that he is a little quirky or that he seems to have it out for some of the Hogwarts students, his character is a pivotal one in the series and when Lego set out to make him into a mini figure they did an excellent job with it. If you want to collect the various Snape figures you can look at spending about $25.00 a piece for them if you are going to get them from resellers. You have to be extremely careful when ordering this online as there are several different versions of Snape on the market. Visually the Snape mini figure is awesome. Yeah, get used to it, I say that word a lot. The purple and gray colors used on his clothes are sweet but the cape could have used some kind of detail to it. I swapped it out and used one of the capes with stars on it for a little bit of extra kick. The hair piece is good but Snape was never one for trendsetting so I don't see the stringy greasy hair look catching on at Hogwarts. It's the purple and gray combination that makes this figure so appealing, the face peg glows in the dark but I do have to mention that the one added in the Hogwarts Castle reissue does not have the glow in the dark head. Why they changed it is beyond me because that is one of the very cool things about the Snape figure. The Boggart version of Snape is interesting to say the least. This only appeared in one set so it costs a little more than what the others do. The green color reminds me of a Girl Scout uniform but it’s the stuffed animal on his chest that makes it a priceless piece. This figure also has the glow in the dark head peg so if you need to create your own Snape mini figure, you can use the one from this figure if need be. This only appeared in the Professor Lupin's Classroom set so don't believe what some sites are saying about it; they could be talking about a different Snape mini figure or trying to unload a set that includes Snape but not this variation of him. If you want to get sets that include Snape, you can find him in these: 4705 Snape's Classroom 4709 Hogwarts Castle 4733 The Dueling Club 4751 Harry and the Marauder's Map 4752 Professor Lupin's Classroom 5378 Hogwarts Castle The Hogwarts Castle is the most expensive; you can find it for about half of the suggested retail price if you are willing to buy a set that isn't boxed or in mint condition but you really need to be familiar with the set to know whether you are getting ripped off or not. Personally, I would go with Snape's Classroom to pick up an extra figure or two. It is one of the least expensive sets on the list and something that has some very cool elements that you can use for other builds. Is it possible to build your own Snape mini figure? Yes if you can get the individual parts from a broker but the glow in the dark head peg could be a problem. That sells for about two to three dollars so if you need to pay three dollars for the torso and another three for the legs, you are looking at nine dollars to make your own and then you still need the cape. If you are going to pay that much, just get one of the smaller sets. Because the stenciling on the torso and legs is unique to Snape, it makes it hard to find comparable pieces to swap out to make your own. The prices on the Snape figure run from $15.00 to $45.00 depending on who is selling it and which version it is. Generally the one without the glow in the dark head sells for a little less but you have to shop around to get the best price. If I were looking to pick up another Snape mini figure I might pay a little extra over my usual five dollar limit. That isn't because of my fondness of Snape but rather the amount of detail that the figure has. This is usually sold without any accessories but you might get lucky and find one that has a wand with it. I consider my Snape figures to be a great addition to my ever growing Harry Potter Lego collection but caution those wishing to purchase one to be on the look out for fakes, customized pieces and modified key chain versions of Hogwarts Dark Arts Master. ================== ^V^ © 2009 Freak369 ^V^ ================== Harry Potter Lego Professor Quirrell Mini Figure Harry Potter Lego Potter / Goyle Mini Figure Harry Potter Lego Dementor Mini Figure Harry Potter Lego Peeves Mini Figure Harry Potter Lego Peter Pettigrew Mini Figure Dumbledore Key Chain Harry Potter Key Chain Hermione Key Chain Harry Potter Lego Spell Books
